Chris Sale will take the mound Sunday for the White Sox, looking to extend his Major League-leading wins total (12) in the series finale against the Blue Jays at U.S. Cellular Field.
Sale defeated the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre earlier this season, yielding just one run in eight innings, and he is 3-2 with a 2.25 ERA in four career starts against Toronto.
Sale, who is in line to make three more starts prior to the All-Star Game, is coming off another pristine outing. The left-handed ace earned a win by striking out nine and holding the Red Sox to one run in seven innings on Tuesday.
Toronto will counter with right-hander Marcus Stroman, who's 2-3 with a 7.59 ERA since May 17, a span of seven starts.
Three things to know about this game
• The Blue Jays will likely give Junior Lake, a right-handed hitter, another start in right field with Sale on the mound.
• White Sox manager Robin Ventura had both catchers in the starting lineup Saturday, with Alex Avila in the designated-hitter role because he's swinging a hot bat. Avila will likely catch Sale, and catcher Dioner Navarro might be the DH in the series finale.
• Josh Donaldson is 3-for-15 in his career against Sale (.200), but two of the three hits were home runs. He also has six RBIs against Sale.
