The roles switch when the Oakland A's host the San Francisco Giants in the second part of their home-and-home series starting Wednesday night. The A's return to the Oakland Coliseum after posting a winning record on a road trip of six or more games for the first time since June 2014.
A's left-hander Sean Manaea rejoins the rotation Wednesday after missing two weeks with a left pronator (forearm) strain. In nine starts this year, Manaea is 2-4 with a 6.02 ERA.
The Giants will counter with Jake Peavy, who has looked like an ace over the past month. He's 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA and 15 strikeouts in his last three starts.
Things to know about this game
• Joe Panik was not in the Giants' lineup Tuesday after experiencing concussion-like symptoms. Manager Bruce Bochy said the Giants would take a couple of days before deciding if Panik will be placed on the disabled list.
• Brandon Crawford was back in the lineup Tuesday after getting a day off Monday due to "general soreness." He's been out of the starting lineup twice in the past week.
• A's outfielder Josh Reddick was activated from the disabled list Tuesday after missing over a month because of a fractured left thumb. Reddick singled in his first at-bat Tuesday night.
• Manaea made a rehab appearance with Class A Advanced Stockton last Friday, surrendering two runs on two hits in 6 2/3 innings.
