After pitching six innings of two-run ball in a no-decision at Tropicana Field against the Rays last week, J.A. Happ will get a crack at another American League East rival Wednesday when the Blue Jays take on the Yankees at Rogers Centre.
The 33-year-old left-hander, who is unbeaten in his last 11 starts, has struggled against the Yankees throughout his career, posting a 4.85 ERA in nine starts.
On the bump for the Yankees will be Michael Pineda, who surrendered six earned runs in five innings last time out against the Astros, a 16-6 Yankees win. Pineda made one start at Rogers Centre last season, firing eight shutout innings in a 6-3 Yankees win on May 5.
"The Blue Jays are a pretty good team, everybody knows that," Pineda said. "I like competing and love the game and will have fun [Wednesday]."
For his career, Pineda is 2-2 with a 3.60 ERA against the Blue Jays over eight starts.
